Olivia McGarragle

I am Dr. Olivia McGarragle,

Welcome to my space, I am glad you are here. Please take a few moments to learn about me and see if we might be a good fit to work together.

I am passionate about connecting with clients, their experiences, and struggles. Working together, we can focus on the significant values and meaning in your life, to cultivate healing, in your emotions, thoughts, beliefs and relationships.

It takes courage, for a client to confront their struggles, what is not working in their life, whether it be conflict in relationships, difficult emotions, anxiety or mood disorders. It is my honor to come alongside clients in their journey as they dare to examine their lives.

In my many years of providing therapy to adults and adolescents, for depression anxiety, bipolar, OCD, ADHD, and more, I have been humbled to witness changes and healing in clients’ lives.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder, depression, low mood, stress, life transitions, ADHD, relationship problems, parenting, or something else, I would like to work with you. I would like to help you lay a foundation for healthy emotional experience, acceptance, beliefs and thinking. As we focus on those values that bring significant meaning to your life, we can cultivate wellness, improved functioning and the relationships that you want.

About Me

I am a Psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and I currently provide treatment to adolescents, and adults for a wide variety of clinical concerns and life challenges.  I completed my Master’s and Ph.D. in Psychology at Wayne State University, prior to which, I obtained an Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Windsor.

I have been practicing as a psychologist since 2013, and previously as a Masters’ level therapist in Michigan since 2008.  Through my work as part of a research team studying Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) treatment at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, I gained specialized training and experience in assessing and treating these disorders. I further developed an interest in assessment and treatment of adult ADHD through my dissertation research.

My work with the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Teen Heath Centre in Windsor further developed my experience in a variety of disorders in youth and adults. I take an integrated evidence-based practices approach in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders and ADHD including cognitive therapy interventions, cognitive behavioural therapy, emotion-focused therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and dialectical behavioral therapy.  I have enjoyed mentorship and putting my therapy skills into practice most recently at private psychology clinic Paragon Psychological Services.

I approach connecting with my clients in a warm and compassionate manner, free of judgement.   My goal is to create an atmosphere of safety and openness, allowing for honesty, insight, and growth.
